Oh god, what have we done? |
ramblings of a baby controlled mind... 30+yr old student/poet/Mom??? the day to day ins and outs. |
So Cassandra Jean has finished the complete Shadowhunter Tarot, so for the next … seventy-something days I’ll be posting a card a day (okay, maybe not every day — I tend to get distracted!) in order, from the first card to the last. Some will be under spoiler cuts; some you’ll have seen before — I’ll explain why each character has the card they have.
We’ve moved on from the Major Arcana to the minor Arcana — the first suit is the suit of Rings, which takes the place of the suit of Pentacles. The Ace of Rings shows Meliorn and the Seelie Queen: the rings are the gold leaf rings the Seelie Queen gives to Clary and Simon in Lost Souls so they can hear each other’s thoughts.
All the Rings in this suit are family rings except this card, and one other.
seriously. damn you, powerball.

So we are losing our roommate at the end of the month…which means no more $700+ a month for us to play with in regards to going out to eat, haha. It’s really better that way but damn do I wish we’d realized we were dropping so much whilst we still had someone living here, long enough to save up more $$$. Ahh well, that’s what we get.
We also now make too much for Medi-Cal…which means possibly WIC also. Makes me livid but I get it. The response from most is WELL you COULD work…uhm yeah, but we have an infant. WTF would I work when I am breastfeeding an infant? I shouldn’t have to. Just because my partner’s gross income is X doesn’t mean that’s the money we have free to play around with. That’s ridiculous.
Not Thrilled at having to put Oliver onto Kaiser insurance via his Papa, either, but it is better than nothing, I suppose. I like our clinic, though. SIGHS.
Amused by the sudden love of a local political candidate who was poo poo’d for backdoor dealings when she was vice mayor. BUT SHE IS A LABOR LEADER! OMGZ! uh, yeah…no excuses and there’s your reason WHY she was bein’ shady. DUH. :/ makes me sad. I remember being all about her until the dramarama.
And my friend tells me about other political drama re: Intel gathering etc, “domestic terrorizm”…sighs. Rinse n repeat. Yes I know the mass populace is not paying attention but come on, how stupid do you think we ALL are? we are paying some attention to sudden interest in our causes and how you push buttons to see if we react. And short term memories aren’t that Short. Ahem, Wounded Knee ‘73.
Sibling says write an advice blog. Maybe. We shall see.
She and I are supposed to be writing a book of poetry. need to get on that…make another blog for it or some such.
Bestie is driving ‘cross country, too. Looking forward to seeing him and showing off the baby.
Seeing a large group of friends tonight for a birthday love and baby showing off. should be fun.
laundry in the wash..need to clean the bathroom. Little Man is sleeping. Going to see Abuello tomorrow…long drive but worth it. THinking of asking to stop and see his other gramps (my dad) on the way home, but we shall see. long drive is long..home being so far away by the time we get to the 46 we may just keep going past it.
hmm, I need to continue to read CLEAN. getting healthy re: the partner, is a damn good thing to do…we will save money in the long run by eating better on the whole…problem is that pasta is so easy to cook. sighs. and veggies which are fresh go bad so quickly…rarr.
we’ll get there. so close yet so far.
ttyl.
Bill Murray on Gilda Radner:
“Gilda got married and went away. None of us saw her anymore. There was one good thing: Laraine had a party one night, a great party at her house. And I ended up being the disk jockey. She just had forty-fives, and not that many, so you really had to work the music end of it. There was a collection of like the funniest people in the world at this party. Somehow Sam Kinison sticks in my brain. The whole Monty Python group was there, most of us from the show, a lot of other funny people, and Gilda. Gilda showed up and she’d already had cancer and gone into remission and then had it again, I guess. Anyway she was slim. We hadn’t seen her in a long time. And she started doing, “I’ve got to go,” and she was just going to leave, and I was like, “Going to leave?” It felt like she was going to really leave forever.
So we started carrying her around, in a way that we could only do with her. We carried her up and down the stairs, around the house, repeatedly, for a long time, until I was exhausted. Then Danny did it for a while. Then I did it again. We just kept carrying her; we did it in teams. We kept carrying her around, but like upside down, every which way—over your shoulder and under your arm, carrying her like luggage. And that went on for more than an hour—maybe an hour and a half—just carrying her around and saying, “She’s leaving! This could be it! Now come on, this could be the last time we see her. Gilda’s leaving, and remember that she was very sick—hello?”
We worked all aspects of it, but it started with just, “She’s leaving, I don’t know if you’ve said good-bye to her.” And we said good-bye to the same people ten, twenty times, you know.
And because these people were really funny, every person we’d drag her up to would just do like five minutes on her, with Gilda upside down in this sort of tortured position, which she absolutely loved. She was laughing so hard we could have lost her right then and there.
It was just one of the best parties I’ve ever been to in my life. I’ll always remember it. It was the last time I saw her.”- from Live from New York: an Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live
Atop the wings was a folded piece of paper, addressed to the New York Institute. After splashing water on her face, Maryse had taken the letter and read it. It was short - one sentence - and was signed with a name in a handwriting oddly familiar to her, for in it there was an echo of Valentine’s cursive, the flourishes of his letters, the strong, steady hand. But it was not Valentine’s name. It was his son’s.
Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern.
She held it out to Brother Zachariah. He took it from her fingers and opened it, reading, as she had, the single word of Ancient Greek scrawled in elaborate script across the top of the page.
Erchomai, it said.
I am coming.
